Professor Srinivasan earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Alabama in 2006. He started his academic career at Mississippi State University in 2006 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor where he was promoted and tenured as an Associate Professor in 2012. He joined the department of mechanical engineering in 2017 as a tenured Associate Professor and subsequently was promoted to tenured Professor in 2021. He served the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the Associate Department Head for Graduate Studies from 2022-2024 and recently assumed the position of interim Department Head in July 2024.
Professor Srinivasan research involves the development of novel combustion concepts that promote the use of zero carbon, carbon neutral and other alternatives to fossil fuels in internal combustion engines. He has over 20 years of experience in developing low-emissions combustion concepts to support heavy and medium-duty transportation and off-road applications. His research has been supported by US Department of Energy, ARPA-E, Propane Education and Research Council, US Department of Education, US Department of Defense, and heavy-duty OEMs, amongst others. He has published more than 90 refereed journal, conference papers and non-peer reviewed papers. He currently supervises 4 PhD students and has graduated more than 30 students in his career. Professor Srinivasan is a Fellow of ASME, and he has served the ASME internal combustion engine division as Chair and Treasurer.
