Mr. Vamsi Krishna is a doctoral student in the Engines and Combustion Laboratory of The University of Alabama. Prior to this, Mr. Vamsi received his Master’s in Aircraft Propulsion from Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University), Russia, and his bachelor’s in aerospace engineering from Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering, Amity University, India.
Mr. Vamsi’s doctoral thesis focuses on expanding the application of alternative fuels to decarbonize the aviation and power generation sectors. He is particularly interested in demonstrating and evaluating multi-phase multi-fuel combustion technology for gas turbines. His work includes investigating and comparing the emission profiles and lean blow limits of various alternative fuel blends. Also, as part of non-carbon fuels like Ammonia, he is working on computational modelling of possible combustion architectures to reduce NOx emissions. He is an active member of global engineering communities such as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). He recently received the ASME Turbo Expo Student Advisory Committee (SAC) travel award for Turbo Expo 2021. He has also served as Secretary of the SAC for the ASME TurboExpo 2022 and Student Review Chair for Turbo Expo 2024. He is an aeromodeller, book reader, and traveler.
